Audrey Irene Hoegermeyer, age 98, of Hooper died Saturday (March 5, 2016) in the Hooper Care Center.

Audrey was born November 28, 1917 on the family farm in rural Hooper, Nebraska (Washington County) to Herman and Adaline (Pawling) Hoegermeyer.

She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Hooper. She attended the Hewett School, Immanuel Lutheran grade school east of Winslow, and graduated from Hooper High School in 1935. Audrey had been active in LWML, Walther League, choir, and taught Sunday school. During WW II, she remained at home to help her parents while her brother, Allen, served in the United States Army. She also became an accredited Braille translator. Audrey never married, but continued to live with and care for her family. When her brother took over the farm, she continued to help him. They would remain on the farm for over 95 years. Audrey was a kind and caring person.

In her later years, Audrey was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Point.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Allen who died in March of 2014. She is survived by cousins and special friends Dale and Sheryl Moll.

The funeral service will be 1:30 PM Wednesday (March 9, 2016) at Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Point (641 W. Grant St.) with Rev. Daniel Garber. The committal will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, (east of Winslow), with a coffee to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at Ludvigsen’s Hooper Funeral Chapel in Hooper on Tuesday from 3 to 8 PM, with family present 6 to 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery and Redeemer Lutheran Church.
