MRS. AMANDA HUBER PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Amanda Huber of Irvington, Nebraska, age 74 years, died in a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday, January 13, 1944. Before her marriage she was Amanda Borup and was born on November 7, 1869 at Blair, Nebraska. She was married at Blair on May 10, 1894, being the wife of the late George F. Huber, who was prominent as a purebred hog breeder for many years. They made their home on the Huber homestead in Washington county where they spent their entire 46 years of married life and where she was living at the time of her death.

Mrs. Huber was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church of Bennington, Nebraska, where she was active for many years in Ladies Aid work. She was also one of Washington County’s Old Settlers.

Deceased is survived by three sons, Frank G. Huber, Clark J. Huber, both of Irvington, Nebraska; and Walter G. Huber of Blair, Nebraska; and five daughters, Mrs. Ernest Peterson of Millard, Nebraska; Mrs. Arthur Gottsch of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Miss Bertha Huber of Irvington, Nebraska; Mrs. Arthur Petersen of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Harry Lund of Omaha, Nebraska; and twenty three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran church of Bennington, Nebraska on Sunday afternoon with burial in the German Cemetery. The pallbearers were Gilbert Stork and Ralph Novak of Blair; Willis Horn of Omaha; Gene Petersen of Benson Station; and Pfc. Irvin Peterson and Howard Fishko of Millard.

Among the friends and relatives from a distance who attended the services were Mrs. Bernard Reiniger, Freeburg, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Horn, Herman, Nebraska; Dr. And Mrs. Herman Quade, Omaha, Nebraska; Lawrence Heise, Bancroft, Nebraska; Theodore Heise, Rosalie, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson and son Lee, Bancroft, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Novak, Blair, Nebraska; and Mr. and Mrs. O. McKelvie, Clay Center, Nebraska.

Mrs. Huber was a devoted wife, a good mother and a kind friend, well loved by everyone with whom she came in contact, and always happiest when surrounded by her friends, her children and grandchildren.
