Milford Sheets, 91

Milford Chris Sheets, Sr., 91, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 3, in his home. He was born September 4, 1925, in Herman, the son of Will Leonard Sheets, Sr. and Mabel (Lund) Sheets.

On September 4, 1947, in Blair, he was united in marriage to Ramona L. Edwards. Together, they shared sixty-three years of marriage before her passing on May 6, 2011.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Scott Anthony Espinosa; and nine siblings: Elizabeth Loges, Hazel Richmond, Gerald Sheets, Harold Sheets, Xona Groves, Leonard Sheets, Jr., Iona Goreham, Inez Goreham and Dorena Dalton.

Survivors include his sons: Harry Sheets, Milford Sheets, Jr., Robert Sheets, Kevin Sheets and wife, Linda, and Kelvin Sheets, all of Versailles, Missouri; his daughters, Virginia Espinosa and husband, Tony, of Versailles, Missouri, and Patti Jackson and husband, David, of Syracuse, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; sixteen great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; his twin brother, Wilford Sheets of Fremont; his brother, Lee Roy Sheets and wife, Alice, of Central City; his sister, Loretta Kleckner, and husband, Kenny, of North Bend; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Millford was raised in Nebraska and served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Nebraska and worked for many years at Hormel. He moved to Versailles, Missouri, in 1976 and worked for Fasco Industries. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed working with the animals on his farm.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles. Burial with military honors followed in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Missouri.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
