A Herman High School student, Kristy Kruse, died Tuesday evening from injuries she suffered in a one-car accident at about 5:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The accident took place on a straight stretch of Highway 73 between the Alton Jensen and Roy Hansen farms, about two miles south of Herman. Tire marks at the scene indicate that the north bound Kruse auto had left the highway on the east side, swerved back onto the highway and then plunged down the bank on the west side. As the car went through the fence it apparently flipped into the air and landed on its side before bouncing back onto its wheels.

The Blair Rescue Squad was called and took Kristy Kruse and a passenger Diane Petersen to the Blair Hospital. Kristy was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kruse of Herman, and was a sophomore in the Herman High School.

She died Tuesday night at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha from injuries received in an automobile accident late in the afternoon.

She is survived by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kruse and by two sisters and two brothers.

The sisters are Mrs. Charles Brodersen, of Grand Island and Mrs. Steve Linn who is with her husband in the service in Germany.

The brothers are Eugene who is at home in Herman and Gary Kruse who lives in Blair. A grandmother, Mrs. Clara Kruse, lives in Millard.

Funeral services will be held at the Legion Hall in Herman Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Zack Kleinsasser conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home, will be made in the Herman Cemetery.

Classmates will be pallbearers. They will be Mack Cameron, John Eriksen, Randy Larsen, Keith Hansen, John Yowell and Monty Brunton.
