Marvin Daniels, 76

Marvin Andrew Daniels, 76, of Blair, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2017. Services will be held at the Congregational Church in Blair on Friday, July 28 at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Orum. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home.

Marvin was born on August 30, 1940, to Andrew and Sylvia (Janszen) Daniels in Burnette, NE and grew up in Petersburg, NE. He attended Albion High School, graduating in 1958. Marvin then attended the University of Nebraska, receiving his degree in agriculture in 1962.

Marvin was united in marriage to Doris Detjens in 2004. He was a cattle buyer in the Blair, West Point and Kearney areas for Wilson and Dubuque Packing Companies.

Marvin enlisted in the Army National Guard in March 1963 and served until May 1980, receiving several accommodations, including the Army Commendation award and achieving the rank of Captain. He was also an active member of the Blair Jaycees, serving as president and receiving the Jaycee of the Year award. Marvin was a lifetime member of AMVETS.

Marvin is survived by stepson, Rick (Sarah) Detjens of Blair; stepdaughter, Kim (Joel) Swanson of Blair; step-grandchildren: Nicole Swanson and Aaron Swanson of Blair, and Gracie and Zac Rolland; sister-in-law, Virginia (Ken) Rhoades of Blair, brother-in-law, Davey (Phyllis) Jensen of Fromburg, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; brother, LaVerne; and infant brother.
