Worked for Railroad for 32 Years

LaVerne A. Wright, 86, of Blair, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha. His remains will be cremated and no services will be held.

LaVerne Alwin Wright was born June 8, 1924, in Mapleton, Iowa, to Raymond and Velme L. (Terrell) Wright.

He married Regina Bair on Feb. 14, 1980, in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Mr. Wright served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then worked for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Regina; son, Eddie L. Wright of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughters, Lorinda Wright of Blair and Mary Wright of Fremont; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Smithers of Iowa.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons and a brother, Louie.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
