Gladys M. Hooks, 72, of Tucson, Ariz., a Herman native, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1998 in Tucson.

Services were Sunday, Nov. 29, at East Lawn Palms Chapel in Tucson with the Rev. Bill Killian officiating. Private inurnment was planned at a later date.

Gladys M. Larsen was born Dec. 20, 1935, to Hans and Margaret Larsen of Spiker.

She graduated from Blair High School. She was married to Ray Hooks for 54 years.

Mrs. Hooks had retired as vice president of human resources at Tucson Medical Center in 1987 after 25 years of service.

Upon retirement, she continued her commitment to the Tucson Medical Center by serving 1,000 hour as an Auxilian and as president of the TMC Alumni Association.

She was a respected leader in the human resource profession at the local, state and national level. She served on the National Board of the American Society for Hospital Personnel Administration and as president and charter member of the State Society for Hospital Personnel Administrators.

She enjoyed 48 years of active membership in Alpha Zeta Philanthropic Sorority and had served as its president.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, of Tucson; daughters, Jill Bemis and Mary Abrahamson; grandchildren, Mark, Andrew, Collin and Phedra; stepgrandchildren, Brint, Andy and Bryan; and two brothers, Leroy Larsen of Blair and Chester Larsen of Fremont.
