Roy Edward Bauermeister, 87 years, of Arlington, NE, died July 21, 2017, at Nye Legacy in Fremont, NE, after a short stay.

Roy was born May 28, 1930, in Omaha, NE, to Kuno John Ludwig and Edna Bertha Matilda (Heitmann) Bauermeister and graduated from Elkhorn High School, Elkhorn, NE (1947).

He married Helen Louise Lund on May 2, 1953, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Benson, NE. They farmed near Omaha and moved to Arlington, NE, in 1962, where they continued their dairy operation.

Roy was a dairy farmer, a roofer, DeLaval dairy equipment dealer, owner of Roy’s Service and Equipment (1971-1992), and a real estate agent. He loved to RV and travel with Helen. Roy delighted in his family and loved each new member who joined by birth or marriage. He touched the lives of hundreds of friends with his visits and his multiple kindnesses.

Roy and Helen were founding members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Omaha (1956). They joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington (1962) and were members of First Lutheran Church, Fremont since 1978.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Groelz (Ned) of Syracuse, Utah, Nancy Penna (Gary) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Eileen Tjeerdsma (Jan) of Cherokee, Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Christopher & Hasmig Penna (Kyle), Benjamin & Andrea Groelz (Carter, Tyson, Sophie), Tara (Penna) & Nathan Eberline (Lydia, Grace), Jonathan Groelz & Dawn Velasquez (Luhi, Mahana), Annie (Groelz) & Matt Simons, Katherine (Tjeerdsma) & Filipe Betzel, and Mary Tjeerdsma; sister, Edna Scheneman; sister-in-law, Betty Nelson; nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; brothers, John Bauermeister and Kuno Bauermeister; and an infant daughter.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 25, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Marty Tolleffsen will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday, July 24 from 5 PM to 8 PM with a time for celebrating Roy’s life with sharing stories and memories at 7:00 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at church one hour prior to service.

Memorials may be given to the First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or to the donor’s favorite charity. Burial will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at Omaha, NE, at 1:45 PM on Tuesday.
