Nila M. Hopkins, 81, of Blair, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Carter House Assisted Living Center in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Nila Marie Hopkins was born March 7, 1924, in Unadilla to Harry and Verna (Harley) Rippe. When she was a young girl, she moved to the Tekamah area with her parents.

On Jan. 12, 1944, she married Dayle M. Hopkins in Tekamah. At the time, her husband was stationed in El Paso, Texas, with the U.S. Air Force. The family lived most of their lives in the Tekamah area.

Mrs. Hopkins was involved in many organizations in Tekamah, Blair, Omaha and Fremont. She volunteered at the Blair Hospital Auxiliary for many years and with the church. She had lived at Carter House since June of 2002.

She is survived by one son, Whitey Hopkins of Arlington; four grandchildren and their families; eight great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Rollie Hall, of Tekamah.

She was preceded in death by a son, Delynn; and her husband, Dayle.
