Linda K. Hudec, 52, of Fremont, died June 25, 2000, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Services were held Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Paul J. Erdal and the Rev. Karl Rist officiated. Interment was at Flower Hill Cemetery, located south of Bennington.

Linda K. Hudec was born May 11, 1948, in Omaha, to Clarence and Helen Schakat. She grew up in Kennard, attended Washington Grade School in Washington, and graduated from Arlington High School.

She was a graduate of Midland College, and received a degree in business administration.

She moved to Fremont in 1968, where she worked at the former Equitable Federal Savings & Loan for five years, then the Fremont Police Department, and then served as hall director at Midland College.

She was then employed at the Nebreaska Department of Labor, Job Training of Greater Nebraska, as a job training representative. She was involved with the Perkins Consortium Advisory Council, Closing the Gaps, and Nebraska Department of Labor Personal Development Key Result Area.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fremont, member of the Faith Circle and served as treasurer and the Confirmation Guide; member of the Fremont Area Personel Association; and the Fremont Area Chamber Business/Education Council.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kimberly Nissen of Omaha, and Curtis and Misook Nissen of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany; two daughtrers, Kimberly Hudec and Christine Hudec, both of Fremont; father and stepmother, Clarence and Dee Schakat of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Les and Janelle Schakat of Blair; two sisters, Joyce Harms of Lincoln and Joan Schakat of Omaha; and a granddaughter, Charise Nissen.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Schakat.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, Fremont, or the American Cancer Society.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
