Mary J. Hoffman, 85, of rural Fremont, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Saturday at the Arlington Community Church. Rev. Charles Lee officiated. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery at Fremont.

Mrs. Hoffman was born May 26, 1912, on the family farm east of Fremont to George and Elizabeth (Eicke) Haney. She grew up there. On Jan. 10, 1934, she married Everette L. Hoffman in Papillion, Neb. She had lived in several Dodge County communities, but most of them near Fremont. She had been an employee of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County for several years.

She was a member of the Arlington Community Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 Auxiliary at Arlington and the Northside Happy Hour Club.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Sandra Hoffman of Breda, Iowa; Robert Hoffman of Fremont; Rodney and Linda Hoffman of Mesa, Ariz., and Lawrence Hoffman of Mesa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Haney of Fremont; Alice and John Delaney of Fremont; Lillian and Ron Duncan of Spring Valley, Calif.; and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Ellen Haney of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette, in February 1961; a grandchild; two brothers and a sister.

Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Kidney Foundation.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
