SUSPECT IS FOUND DEAD

HOGAN, SOUGHT FOR BAD CHECKS HERE, SUCCUMBS IN OMAHA SHELTER

Ira Hogan, 50, erstwhile Blair farm hand, was found dead Monday morning at the Salvation Army Shelter in Omaha, and thus closed the final chapter in his rather hectic career.

Hogan was being sought for allegedly issuing $115.40 worth of forged checks here some weeks ago. Officers said he wrote five checks, using the names of farmers for whom he had worked, and cashed them in Blair liquor, beer, clothing and grocery stores.

His wife and four children were found destitute in a local cabin camp after he disappeared following the cashing of the checks, and were taken care of by relief agencies. Mrs. Hogan gave birth to her fourth child after the husband had fled this vicinity, and the family has since been returned to Omaha, their former home.

Services for Hogan are being held this afternoon in Omaha.
