Nell E. Hlavka, 94, of Arlington, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with the Rev. Lynn A. Martin of the Arlington Community Church officiating. A family interment service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation continues Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Nell E. Hlavka was born Jan. 21, 1910, in Omaha to Charles and Anna (Jensen) Larsen.

She married Emil Hlavka on Aug. 25, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Omaha until moving to Elkhorn in 1970. She moved to Arlington in 1995. Mrs. Hlavka worked at the Nebraska Children's Home in Omaha for several years in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Mrs. Hlavka was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn; the Luna Chapter No. 169, Order of the Eastern Star; and Sat-Ra Temple 59, Daughters of the Nile. She was also active at the Arlington Over 60 Center.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jay Thomsen of Arlington; very special friend, Sherrill Bloch of Arlington; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Tinker Bell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; a brother, Alvin Larsen; four sisters, Helen Handley, Tillie Maystrick, Bertha Grant, and Mary Haas.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, or the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children.
