DEATH OF HORATIO HITCHCOCK OCCURRED MONDAY

Horatio Hitchcock died at his home south of Blair Monday, April 23, 1923 after an illness from stomach trouble covering several weeks, aged 75 years, 6 months and 13 days.

Horatio Kendrick Hitchcock was born in Belvue, Michigan, October 10, 1847, and came with his parents to Washington county in 1856, and is, therefore, to be classed among the early settlers of the county. On April 11, 1877, he was married to Miss Anna E. Shook of Romulus, Mich., and of this marriage five children, all except one who died in infancy, with the wife survive him. They are Mrs. May Coulter of Blair, Mrs Hattie Maples of Dufree, S.D., Mrs. Maude Bohs of Blair and Verner Hitchcock, who resides at home. He is also survived by one brother, Thos. L. Hitchcock, of Kennard, and one sister, Mrs. Mate Sanders of Willard, Ohio.

The funeral services are held today, Thursday, from the house at 12:30 and from the Methodist church at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. J.A. Johnson officiating and burial made in the Blair cemetery.

Horatio Kendrick Hitchcock died at his home south of Blair on Monday, April 23rd, of stomach trouble, following an illness of several weeks duration. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, Rev. J.A. Johnson officiating. Deceased was born in Bellevue, Mich., October 10th, 1847, and was therefore 75 years old last October. He came to this county with his parents in 1856, so was a pioneer settler here. He was married to Miss Anna E. Shook, of Roumlus, Mich., on April 11, 1877, and five children were born to them, one dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. May Coulter, of this city, Mrs. Hattie Maples, of Dufree, S.D., Mrs. Maude Bohs, of Blair, and Verner Hitchcock, who lives at home. He is also survived by his wife, one brother, Thos. L., of Kennard, and one sister, Mrs. M. Sanders, of Willard, Ohio.

HORATIO KENDRICK HITCHCOCK

Horatio Kendrick Hitchcock, past 75 years of age, was born in Bellevue, Michigan, and came to this county in the year of 1856 where he has since made his home. He was married to Miss Anna Shook twenty six years ago this month, and to them five children, of whom four are living, were born. These children are Mrs. Wm. Coulter, Mrs. Andrew Bohs, both living in this county and Verna at home and Mrs. Robert Marple of South Dakota. Besides these children and the sorrowing wife, the deceased leaves a brother, Mr. Tom Hitchcock of Kennard and a sister who resides in Ohio.

The funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock at the home at DeSoto and at 2 o’clock at the M.E. church in Blair, and interment made in the Blair cemetery.
