Mary E. Miller, 83, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln, 3825 Wildbriar Lane.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O' Street and one hour prior to service time at the church.

Mary E. Laaker was born March 17, 1928, in Arlington to Arthur and Lenora (Scheer) Laaker.

She was married to James A. Miller.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a founding group member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, volunteer for the Nebraska State Historical Society and Birthright of Lincoln. She enjoyed traveling, panning for gold, fishing, rock hunting and her family.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen A. Miller and Lauren Brandt, Bishop,Calif., Greg A. and Marty Miller, Lincoln; grandchildren: Sam A. Miller, Portland, Ore., Katie and husband Sean Davis, Rincon, Ga., Hannah Miller and Shannon Miller, both of Lincoln; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Roland and Charmaigne Laaker, Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Mary E. Miller, 83, of Lincoln, widow of James A., died Tuesday, June 14, 2011.

She was born March 17, 1928, in Arlington to Arthur and Lenora (Scheer) Laaker. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a founding group member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, volunteer for the Nebraska State Historical Society and Birthright of Lincoln. She enjoyed traveling, panning for gold, fishing, rock hunting and her family.

Family members include: sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen A. Miller and Lauren Brandt of Bishop, Calif., Greg A. and Marty Miller of Lincoln; grandchildren, Sam A. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Wildbriar Lane in Lincoln, with the Revs. Lance Berndt and Clint K. Poppe officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 O St., in Lincoln and will continue one hour prior to service time Friday at the church.
