Funeral services were held today (Monday) for Mrs. John E. Hovendick, 82 years of age, who died Friday at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

The services were held at the Christian Church, the Rev. J. D. Johnson officiating, with interment in Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Hovendick, the former Mabel Hannah Bouvier, was born June 22, 1862 at DeSoto. Her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hovendick is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hugh Sutherland (Mary) of Blair, and Mrs. John Thomson (Mildred) of Dixon, Calif.; sons, Raymond of Omaha and Carl of Davenport, Iowa; sisters, Mrs. Walter Stricklett of Blair and Mrs. Myrtle Kirk of San Francisco, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were nephews: Ernie Stricklett, Kenneth Bouvier, Alfred Bouvier, William Hovendick, Fred Hovendick and Francis Hovendick.

Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Services For Mrs. Mabel Hovendick Monday Afternoon

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Christian Church for Mrs. Mabel Hovendick, lifelong resident of this area and a long-time worker in the Christian Church.

Mrs. Hovendick, the former Mabel H. Bouvier, was born in the DeSoto community, four miles southeast of Blair on June 22, 1882. She grew to womanhood in the DeSoto community and sixty-three years ago on March 27, 1901 she was married to John Edward Hovendick. Most of their married life was spent in Blair.

Mrs. Hovendick became the mother of four children; Mary, Mrs. Hugh Sutherland of Blair; Mildred, Mrs. John Thomson, of Dixon, California; Raymond of Omaha and Carl of Davenport, Iowa. All are living. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Her husband died nine years ago.

For the past four years she has been a resident of Good Shepherd Home in Blair where she died last Wednesday, July 10th. She was 82 years of age at the time of her death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. D. Johnson at the First Christian Church on Monday afternoon and burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was made in the Blair Cemetery.
