Jack D. Chapman, 85, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at his home in Blair.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at First Baptist Church in Blair. There will be no visitation.

Jack D. Chapman was born June 14, 1925, in Omaha to Jasper and Juanita (Sheridan) Chapman.

At the age of 5, he moved to Tekamah with his parents. He attended elementary and high school in Tekamah.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. After his return from the military, he worked for Jack Brother's Hardware in Tekamah and, in 1954, started Chapman Plumbing and Heating. He worked with his son, Jeff, up until six months prior to his death.

On June 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ruby Christensen in Blair.

Mr. Chapman was a member of the Blair Masonic Lodge, Shrine, First Baptist Church, Blair American Legion and VFW. He dearly loved to go to Canada where he could spend time boating.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Hollis; and son, Jeff, all of Blair; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily and Amy Hollis; three great-grandchildren, Trevor and Jack Hollis and Hailey Peterson; brothers-in-law, Erwin Anderson, Oliver Christensen.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Hanneman and Dorothy Anderson.
