Paul R. Sherod, 81, of Arlington, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. There will be no visitation.

Paul R. Sherod was born May 13, 1930, in Omaha. He grew up there and spent most of his life in Omaha.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 22, 1946, to September 5, 1946, and in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 17, 1949, to September 8, 1951, serving in the Korean War.

He worked at M.B. Wilder Co. in Omaha for 34 years as a machinist. He retired in 1992 and moved to Arlington.

He married Irene E. Franke September 28, 1958, in Omaha.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, the Lutheran Laymen's League and American Legion Post #71 in Arlington. He was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington.

He is survived by a brother, Lee and wife Linda Sherod of Omaha; and brothers-in-law, Maynard and wife Rose Franke, and Eugene and wife Jennie Franke, all of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, on April 18, 2011.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
