John L. Neuman was born June 19, 1954, in Blair, Nebraska. John was raised by his father and step-mother: John H. and Marie Neuman in Blair and Herman, Nebraska. He attended grade school in Blair, and graduated from Tekamah-Herman High School in 1972. As a young boy, John enjoyed tending to his pet pigeons, building model cars, jumping on the neighborhood trampoline, and taking part in swimming, diving and wrestling.

John married Pam Hester on April 4, 1987, at Pam’s mother’s house in Fremont, Nebraska. After their wedding, the couple made another life-changing decision, to adopt their two sons: Jacob and Rick. The family lived in Omaha for a time, moved to Lewisville, Texas, and then returned to Omaha.

John had the pleasure of working with his dad for many years at Concrete Equipment Company in Blair, which instilled in him a very good work ethic which stayed with him for the rest of his life. He welded for various manufacturers, and ended his career at Eaton Corporation on August 1, 2017.

John was a dedicated, faithful, fun and humble man who had an unconditional love for all those he knew. He was a Husker football fan, and Creighton Women’s basketball fan, but most of all, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He listened to classic rock, and his favorite movie was “The Hunt for Red October”. He loved fishing with his dad, and after his father passed, John loved to go camping and boating with family and friends. John enjoyed a good prime rib and greasy fried potatoes or dinner out at Famous Dave’s. He served as an assistant Scout Master for Troop 331 and as an usher at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church. He loved waterskiing, snow sliding, boating, and doing yard work. He cherished Pam, Jacob and Rick, always had a great smile, and will be remembered as a man who was always willing to help out others, and never expected anything in return.

John died at his home in Omaha on September 20, 2016, at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and one day. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie Neuman. John is survived by his wife Pam, and sons, Jacob and Rick, all of Omaha; brothers and sisters-in-law: Kent and Cathy Neuman of Fremont, and Mike and Chris Neuman of Lincoln; sisters and brothers-in-law: Theresa and Scott Bokelman of Saratoga, WY and Lori and Jim Sperry of Elkhorn; biological mother, Edna Klein; half-brothers Mitch, Curt, and Dave; and several nieces and nephews.
