Blair native Evalyn M. Hulst, 86, died April 2, 2006, in Anaheim, Calif.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at the Blair Cemetery.

Evalyn Marie (Fischer) Johnson Hulst was born March 19, 1920, in Blair to Marie and Ewald Fischer. She married Vernette "Net" Theodore Johnson in 1945. After his death, she married Donald Hulst of Oak Harbor, Wash.

Her family notes she could best be described as "the woman who could do anything when she put her mind to it." From diapering five daughters, to running the print shop, to waiting tables, to sewing prom dresses at midnight, cutting down trees, digging new sewer lines, playing cards and winning-to visiting friends and grandkids, to rigging dinner on the manifold of the car on vacation, she encouraged all she met with her abilites and her ingenuity.

She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Ev Petersen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Chris and Don Heins of Seattle, Wash., Jean and Bill Weaver of Missoula, Mont., Jenny Johnson, also of Seattle, and Mary and Dan Creager, of Ladera Ranch, Calif., and three step-children, Don Hulst, Ed Hulst, and Evon Steinsiek, all of Oak Harbor, Wash. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Shirley Mohr of Fullerton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Vernette Johnson and Donald Hulst.
