A celebration service is planned for 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow the service.

Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Dalvin Scheer's barn, 21942 Highway 91, Arlington.

LeNora J. Gnuse was born May 23, 1914, to William and Anna (Stork) Gnuse.

She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Arlington.

After her marriage to Oscar Scheer on Nov. 11, 1943, she shared farming duties until 1976 when they moved into Arlington. They wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for more than 20 years. After her husband's death in 1998, she lived in Arlington until moving to Nye Court in Fremont in October of 2007.

Mrs. Scheer was an active member of St. Paul's Church, participating as a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Stephen Ministries. She enjoyed camping with the We Go and Good Sam clubs; square dancing with the Spinning Wheels; participating as a 4-H leader; and community activities, such as the Bell Creek Sewing Club and Peacemakers Quilting. She decorated many cakes over the years.

Her family remembers her as one who cared with kindness, encouraged others with love, and shared the good news of our Heavenly Father's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dalvin and Betty Scheer of Arlington; two daughters and a son-in-law, Venna Bishop of California and Eula and Jim Fluckey; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Lorraine Gnuse of California; sister-in-law, Wilma Gnuse of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; a grandson, Greg Scheer; infant daughter; older brothers, Lawrence, Edward, Martin, Raymond, and older sister, Leona and their spouses.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Paul's Church endowment fund, Good Samaritan Fund, or the food pantries of Washington and Dodge counties.
