Former Blair Man Passes

George G. Boggs, On of Blair’s Earliest Settlers Passes Away April 27 in Shawnee, Oklahoma; Was a Graduate of Blair High.

George G. Boggs, former Blair resident, passed way Saturday at Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of sixty years.

Deceased was born in Boone, Iowa April 5,1869 and while but a child moved with his parents to Washington County. Late the father became prominent in local politics and served as postmaster for a time.

George grew up to manhood here and was married in 1893 to Carrie Lawson and in 1895 they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was later appointed postmaster of that city and served as secretary of Shawnee Chamber of Commerce for seven years. He established the first bank at Asher in Pottawatomie, county, Oklahoma and later moved to Chandler in 1915 to take the cashier ship of the First State Bank of Chandler and it was at this place that he was making his home at the time of his death.

He was member of the Presbyterian Church and he lived the part and his death was a real loss to the community in which he resided.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Boggs; a son Logan Boggs, deputy clerk of Lincoln County, Oklahoma; a brother E.E. Boggs of Shawnee; a sister, Mrs. B. F. Thomas of Long Beach, California; a sister-in-law, Mrs. E.B. Carrigan of this city.

GEORGE BOGGS DIES FROM HEART FAILURE

Early Day Resident Passes Away at Shawnee Oklahoma

George Boggs, who will be remembered by many of the older people here, died suddenly April 27th at Shawnee, Oklahoma from heart failure. Mr. Boggs resided at Chandler, Okla., and he was on a business trip to Shawnee when he was attacked.

Mr. Boggs was born in Boone, Iowa in 1869, and came to Washington county with his parents when a small child. He grew to manhood here and graduated rom the Blair schools in 1889. He later studied law and practiced in both Nebraska and Oklahoma. In 1893 he was married to Miss Carrie Lawson, a sister of Mrs. E. B. Carrigan of this city. In 1895 Mr. Boggs and his family moved to Shawnee, where he was elected the first city attorney for that city. Later they moved to Asher and then to Chandler, Okla., being interested in Banking in both places.

He is survived by his widow and one son and a sister, Mrs. B. F. Thomas of Long Beach, Calif.
