Betty J. Bohannon, 60

Betty J. Bohannon, 60, of Herman, died Friday, September 5, 2003 at her home, surrounded by her loving family following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were Monday, September 8 at Herman Community Church with the Rev. Dan Hovanec officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Betty Jane Bohannon was born September 11, 1942 in Fremont to Edwin and Eloise (Fenske) Burt. She grew up on a farm outside Leshara.

She was married to David Stang, and the couple had three children.

On September 4, 1976, she married Lyle Bohannon in Herman. The couple lived in Herman for 27 years.

Mrs. Bohannon was active in the Herman Community Church, where she sand in the choir and participated in Bible study. Her faith never wavered.

She was a hairdresser until her illness made her unable to work full-time. She later volunteered as a hairdresser at the nursing home in Tekamah while being a full-time homemaker. She devoted her time and her energy to her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of Herman; sons Steve and daughters-in-law, Steve and Laura Stand and Mark and Adrianne Stang, all of Omaha, and Michael and Vickie Stang of Herman; two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Gloria Burt of Herman and Gary and Alice Burt of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Beverly Gless and Bonnie Anderson, both of Blair; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Herman Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or the Herman community Church.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral of Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
