Hiykel, Raymond H. Dec 16, 1952 - Sep 20, 2017 Raymond H. Hiykel, age 64, of Omaha, passed away September 20, 2017 at his home. Ray was born December 16, 1952 in Fremont, NE, to the late Fay and Virginia H. (McCann) Hiykel. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ticonderoga and USS Kitty Hawk. Ray married Saundra Pogge on July 22, 1984 in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with two children, Amanda and Raymond, Jr. Ray was a carpenter for North Star Studios, retiring in 2001. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his half-sisters, Alice Kline and Pauline Griffin Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandy Hiykel of Omaha; daughter, Amanda (Jeremy) Peterson of Gilson, IL; son, Raymond H. (fiancée, Angelica) Hiykel of Breda, IA; grandchildren: Cammie and Jacob Peterson, Rowan, Erma, and Blair Hiykel; sister, Virginia Faye (Stan) Hiykel Horrell; half-brother, Joe (Ardell) Hiykel; half-sister, Loretta Suverkrubbe, all of Omaha; half-brother, Fay (Margee) Hiykel of Blair, NE; half-sisters, Kathy (Roger) Erickson of Omaha; Patty (Arne) Svenningsen, Sr. of Queen Creek, AZ; half-brother, Emil Hiykel; half-sister, Marie C. Hiykel, both of Omaha; many nieces and nephews. VISITATION WITH THE FAMILY: Friday, 6-8pm, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Private graveside service and burial, Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors tendered by the Kanesville Honor Guard. The family will direct memorial contributions.
