ARLINGTON — Paul F. Menking, 88 years, of Arlington passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.

Paul was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Arlington to Lawrence and Pauline (Kruger) Menking. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1947. Paul was a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs from 1946 to 1952. On Jan. 29, 1950, Paul married Norma Thomas in Arlington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Jan. 29, 1952, to Jan. 28, 1954. After serving in the military, Paul returned to the Chicago Cubs. In 1956, he began working for Northern Natural Gas Company in Hooper, retiring in 1984.

Paul was a member of the Arlington Community Church and life member of the American Legion Post 71 in Arlington. He enjoyed coaching Little League and American Legion Baseball.

Paul is survived by wife, Norma; daughter, Kathy (Dan) Molle of Fremont; sons, Bill (Linda) Menking and Ed Menking, all of Arlington; and five grandchildren.
