Published in the Tribune December 5, 1918

Claus Henry Schwager who was buried near the grave of his wife on November 27, 1918, at Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, was born in German 78 years ago and came with his family to join his brother, the late Hans Schwager, 34 years ago. For years he was a farmer in this neighborhood before moving to Ft. Calhoun and later to Omaha, where his son, John, some years ago joined the police force and is now a first rate detective. Claus was a hard working, industrious man, and had very many friends among those who knew him. Beside his son, John, he left a daughter, Mrs. Henry Rosacker, at Norfolk, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and has one sister in Germany. The flowers were very beautiful; Rev. Green, Lutheran minister at Ponca Creek preached the sermon from the test, “Teach us, Lord, to number our days.” Mrs. Chas. Rathjen and Mrs. Joe Bolln sang the hymns, with Miss Grace Neale at the piano. The pallbearers were Hans Schmidt, Nick Rathjen, John Roth, Henry Clausan, Lewis Schultz, of Ft. Calhoun, and Charles Schwager of Omaha. The later is a nephew of the deceased. Mrs. Henry Rosacker and John Schwager came to the funeral.

The Schwager family desire us to express their thanks to the choir, pallbearers, and various friends who were so kind during the illness and funeral of the deceased parent and friend.- W. H. Woods
