Mrs. Elsie Rose died at the home of her son, A. W. Rose, at 11 o’clock Saturday morning of old age, being 90 years and 10 months old to the day. The funeral was held at the house at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. Burial was made in the Kennard cemetery by the side of her husband, who died Jan. 22nd. 1885.

Elsie Ames was born in Morgan County, Pa., July 6th, 1826, while John Quincy Adams was president. Her people moved to Ohio while she was small and she grew to womanhood in the Buckeye state. She was married there to Eden Rose August 24th, 1845, and in 1850 they moved to Muscatine county, Iowa. They came to this county in 1882 and settled out near Kennard. After the death of her husband she made her home with her son, A. D. Rose, until his death in September, 1914, since which time she has lived with A. W. There is but one other member of the family, a sister, Mrs. S. E. Breneman, of Milan, Kans. She leaves 28 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Also one brother, S. H. Ames, of Muscatine, Ia, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wamsley, of Columbus Junction, Ia. About three months ago she had a slight stroke and a week before her death another stroke hastened the end, though she was conscious up to the last twelve hours of life.

Mrs. Elsie Rose was born in Morgan Co. Pennsylvania, July 5, 1826, and departed this life, at Blair, Neb., May 5, 1917, aged 90 years, 10 months.

When a child, she moved with her parents to Ohio, where she grew to womanhood, and was married to Eden Rose, Aug. 24, 1845. To this union 5 children were born, 2 of whom survive the mother, Mrs. F. E. Brene now of Mileon, Kansas, and A. W. Rose of Blair, Nebr. Mrs. Rose had 30 grandchildren, 22 are living, and 48 great grandchildren. One brother, S. H. Ames, of Musketeen, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wamsley, of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

In 1850 Mrs. Rose moved to Iowa and was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Goneville, Iowa. In 1882 she came to Nebraska and joined the Grace M. E. Church of Kennard, Neb., Feb. 8, 1891, where she held her membership at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday and burial was made in the Kennard Cemetery.

Mrs. Elsie Rose Dies At the Age Of 90 Years

At the home of her son, A. W. Rose, in this city, Mrs. Elsie Rose died at eleven o’clock, Saturday morning at the advanced age of 90 years and 10 months. She had been an invalid for many years. About three month ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, and another stroke about a week before her death, hastened the end, though she was conscious up to twelve hours before death relieved her of her suffering.

Rev. W. H. Underwood conducted the funeral services from the A. W. Rose home at two o’clock, Monday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the Kennard Cemetery besides her husband, who died January 22, 1885.
