Sterling J. Siercks, 89, of Fremont, died Saturday, July 2, 2011. A visitation with family was held Thursday, July 7, at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont.

Sterling J. Siercks was born March 5, 1922, in Arlington to Julius and Rose Siercks. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 1059th Signal Corps of the Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1945.

On Feb. 10, 1946, he married Doris Vondracek of Schuyler.

Mr. Siercks worked for the Nebraska Job Service for more than 30 years. He began his career in Nebraska City as a claims representative and interviewer. In 1965, he transferred to Fremont as manager. He retired in 1981.

Mr. and Mrs. Siercks spent their winters in Arizona and their summers at their cabin near Duncan until 1996, when they moved back to Fremont. He enjoyed driving his boat for his grandchildren and playing cards with his friends at Nye Square. He was also a member of the Eagles and American Legion.

He is survived by his family, Deb and Marty Williamson of Fremont, Jan and Steven Hultstrand of Roll, Ariz., and Terri and Dennis Teten of Brainerd; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 2008.
