George Walter Peterson

As we go to press we learn of the death of Mr. George Peterson of near Spiker. His death occurred yesterday afternoon.

Deceased is a brother-in-law of our townsman, Julius Ziegler.

The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Orum Church and interment will be made in the Orum Cemetery.

George Petersen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson, was born August 4, 1893, and passed away at the Tekamah Hospital at 5:30 Tuesday January 30, 1917. When a boy of 13 the deceased moved with his parents to Middle Branch, Nebr., and later to Herman where he was married, Dec. 10, 1912 to Lula Petersen, who with a small son, his parents, for brothers and two sisters, are left to mourn his loss

Mr. Petersen had been in good health until Thursday when he was stricken with strangulated hernia and was taken to the Tekamah Hospital Saturday and underwent an operation that day.

The body was brought here Wednesday on the noon train and taken to his home southwest of town and funeral services were held at the house at 11 o’clock and later at the Orum church, with burial in the Orum Cemetery.

George Petersen Dies Suddenly Following Operation

George Petersen, a well know resident of Washington County, died suddenly at the Tekamah Hospital at seven o’clock, Jan. 30, 1917. He enjoyed vigorous health up until a few days previous to his death which was due to strangulated hernia.

George Walter Petersen was born in Plainview, Nebr., Aug. 4, 1893. He was the son of Andrew Petersen and wife, both of whom with four brothers and two sisters are left to mourn his departure. Deceased moved with his parents to Middle Branch, Nebr. when about 13 years old. On Dec. 10, 1912, he was married to Miss Lulu Peterson, of Herman and has since made his home on the Lars Peterson place west of Herman. A two year old son also survives the deceased. Funeral services were held from his late residence at 11:00 a.m. last Friday. Interment was made in the Orum Cemetery.
