Mildred Mae Krampe (Japp)

Mildred Mae was born to Walter and Marie (Wrich) Japp on May 18, 1923, in Kennard. She attended Sunnyside rural elementary school and graduated from Blair High School in 1940.

Mildred was attending business college in Omaha, Nebraska at the time the United States entered World War 2. Anxious to assist with the war effort, she boarded a train for Washington, DC, where she became a secretary in the Pentagon. While in Washington, she met a handsome, young officer, Donald Krampe. They were married on Feb. 14, 1948 and were blessed with four children. Mildred and Donald were married for 51 years until his death in 1999.

On October 13, at the age of 94, Mildred was called to her heavenly home following a courageous battle with breast cancer and dementia. Mildred is survived by four children, Steve (Carolyn) Krampe, Minnesota, Karen (Bruce) Madinger, Indiana, Richard (Bonnie) Krampe, Pennslyvania, and Jane (Rob) Gottsch, Bennington; grandchildren, Nathan, Amanda, Hilary, Grant, Noah and Emma; great-grandchildren, Jaylin, Micah and Isaac; a brother, Walter (JoAnn) Japp, Blair; and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Margaret & Jim Rosser, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Lou Andersen and a brother, Lyle Japp.
