Lois S. Spencer, 68, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at her home in Arlington.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 6, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Illinois.

Lois S. Schultz was born July 4, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Harold and Mildred (Otcovsky) Schultz. She grew up in Cicero, Ill., and lived in Lyons, Ill., 15 years before moving to Arlington in the early 1980s.

She worked as a postal clerk in Westmont, Ill., and then in Omaha until retiring in 2008. She was a U.S.P.S. union member.

She received her high school diploma from Metropolitan Community College in 2009.

On May 26, 1979, she married John T. Spencer in Lyons, Ill. He survives her, as do a son and daughter-in-law, John and Crystal Volenec of Fremont; daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Pat Zakosek of Lombard, Ill., and Cheryl Hurt of Hodgkins, Ill.; step-son and wife, Michael and April Spencer of Zwolle, La.; step-daughter, Carol Lond of Howells, Tenn.; one grandchild; six step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandra Schultz of Wilmington, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Marice "Bunny" and Dean Bartels of Plainfield, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
