W. Jean Combs (Rowlett)

W. Jean Combs age 78 of Blair, passed away October 25, 2017 at Nye Legacy in Fremont, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Blair Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Jean Combs was born on November 17, 1938 in Burlington Junction, Missouri the daughter of Jerry and Dale (Crist) Rowlett. She was one of nine children. After graduation from high school Jean moved to Omaha and began working for Western Electric. In 1960 she was united in marriage to Darrell Combs. The couple made their home in Council Bluffs, Iowa until moving to Blair in 1965. Jean loved spending time with family and enjoyed staying at home to raise their four children. In 1980 she began working in the dietary department at Crowell Home until her retirement in July 2011. She also enjoyed attending sporting events like Nebraska Football, Spring Training in Arizona and trips to Chicago to watch the Cubs. Throughout her many travels, she collected rocks from locations near and far; extending from Missouri to as far away as Italy, earning the name of “The Rock Collector from Nebraska”.

She is survived by children: Deb Combs Wenz of Blair, Kathy (Richard) Lonowski of Gilbert, Arizona, Jeff Combs of Blair, Susan (Tim) Urwin of Blair; grandchildren: Shannon (Ross) Moser of Wheatridge, Colorado, Brandon Moe of Gilbert, Arizona, Alexandra Jean Wenz of Omaha, Kari (Rick) Fluckey of Hastings, and Bryan Lonowski of Tucson, AZ; great granddaughter: Olivia Jean Moser; twin brother Dean (Helen) Rowlett of Syracuse, NE; sister Barbara (Dave) Stohlmann of Canton, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrell Combs, siblings: Margaret Fisher, Erma Gaddy, Jerry Rowlett, Mary Stephenson, Eldon Rowlett and Paul Rowlett.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
