Mrs. J. H. Owens Passes to the Great Beyond

Mrs. Elizabeth Owens, wife of J. H. Owens, died on Saturday morning following a relapse of influenza.

Elizabeth Ord Davis was born Oct. 17, 1862, and was 56 years of age at the time of her death. She was married October 22, 1883, to John H. Owens at Fremont, Nebr., with who she lived happily and was a good woman, a true wife and mother, who will be sincerely mourned by the bereaved husband and children, of who there are three: Charlotte, Edna and Benjamin, the latter still at home.

The funeral was conducted at the home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood in charge, and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.

The hearts of all who enjoyed the acquaintance of Mrs. J. H. Owens were grieved at the announcement of that estimable woman’s death which occurred at the family home in this city on last Saturday, the 14th, after a brief illness from influenza, which is proving fatal in so many instances. Only those who knew Mrs. Owens most intimately appreciated her many womanly virtues and excellent qualities of head and heart. To know her well was to reverence her.

Elizabeth Ord Davis was born at old Rockport in the southeast corner of this county, October 17th., 1860. On October 22nd, 1883, she was married to John H. Owens, at Fremont and three children were born to them. Edna Cordelia is the wife of J. W. McShane and their home is at Auburn, Mich., Charlotte Elizabeth is Mrs. Frank Parsell, living at Norfolk, this state; Benjamin Franklin the youngest, live at home here in Blair.

Funeral service was held at the home at 2 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon.

Both daughters and their husbands were in attendance at the funeral.

Mr. Owens, the husband of deceased is a physical wreck, almost helpless, occasioned by injuries received in a railroad wreck a year and a half ago at Emerson, in this state. Since his injuries, deceased has devoted her life to providing comforts for him and nursing him with that tender care which only a loving wife can bestow.
