Active in His Church, Community

H. Keith Warner, 89, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center with Marletta, his wife of 67 years, by his side.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 6, at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hull.

H. Keith Warner was born March 3, 1922, in Kimball to Laurence and Mabel Warner. He attended Harrisburg High School and graduated in the late 1930s. After graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska's School of Agriculture in Lincoln. Upon finishing his formal education, he returned to the family homestead in the Hull/Banner County area.

On Aug. 27, 1944, he married Marletta J. Neiman in Gering.

Mr. and Mrs. Warner served six years on the Scottsbluff-Banner Counties Red Cross Board. In addition, Mr. Warner was an elected member of the Banner County ASCS for 16 years, a member of the National Stockgrowers Association, and a member of the Nebraska Wheatgrowers Association. He was also a Master Mason and member of the Scottsbluff Lodge No. 201 A.F.&A.M. of Gering, Nebraska York Rite Freemasonry (Gering), the Panhandle Shrine Club, Tehama Shrine of Hastings, and Scottsbluff Chapter 133 Order of the Eastern Star (Gering).

Mr. Warner was a member of the Methodist Church for more than 70 years. During his involvement with the church, he served as church treasurer in Hull, church school superintendent, finance committee member and served on many boards and committees.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marletta; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Janet Warner of Arlington and Randall and Paula Warner of Ord; grandson, Russell Warner of Harrisburg; granddaughters and spouses, Autumn and Pat Kowalski of Kearney, Anne and Dave Terry of St. Louis, Mo., Tori and Andrew Roth of Kansas City, Mo., Tessa and Charles Breneman of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Faith Lee and Patrick Grant Kowalski of Kearney, Lena Violet Roth of Kansas City and Spencer Terry of St. Louis; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and LeRoy Morse of Springfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne, and sister-in-law, Mildred.

Memorials are suggested to the Fremont First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men's Scholarship Fund in Scottsbluff, the Shrine Burn Center, and the American Red Cross.

Dugan Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
