Buried in Fort Calhoun Cemetery

Published in the Tribune December 19, 1918

Once more the Death Angel has claimed one of our very best young men who only a few days ago seemed the picture of health and happiness. Harry Kruse was taken ill with appendicitis and taken to the Swedish Mission Hospital at Omaha, when an operation was performed, but complications setting in proved fatal, death occurring early Monday morning. The heartbroken parents were at his bedside until the end came. Harry was born on the home place southeast of Ft. Calhoun on June 28th, 1896. His spotless character and shinny disposition had endeared him to all his associates and friends by whom he will be sadly missed. His only brother, Paul, with whom he stood in close companionship, will be shocked when returns from France to hear of his death.

Deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruse, and one brother, Paul, now in France. He was a member of the Woodmen of America, that lodge having charge of his funeral. The pall bearers were four of his cousins, Henry, Otto, William and Ernest Kruse and Grant Lage and Henry Suverkrubbe. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Mrs. Chas Rathjen and Mrs. Will Sierk sang the anthems. Rev. Graham conducted the funeral services and interment was made in the Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
