J. C. Jorgensen Passes Away At South Omaha

Jorgen C. Jorgensen was born in Denmark 74 years ago and came to Nebraska at the age of 21, spending fifty years in this state, many of which he was a resident of Washington County. He died suddenly last Sunday of acute pneumonia at his home in South Omaha.

Mr. Jorgensen was married first to Marie Nielsen, and three children, two daughters and one son, were left to mourn the mother who died in the city several years ago. The daughters were both at their father’s bedside when he passed away. Several years ago he again was married in Fremont, to Mrs. Elsa Jensen Nielsen, a sister of the late Soren Jensen, Sr., of this city, and they lived happily together to the end.

Mr. Jorgensen was a member of the Blair Adventist Church, so the funeral was held from the local church and was in charge of Rev. Paul Hansen of the College View Adventist Church. A quartet composed of Mrs. J. P. Jensen, and Miss Ethel Mead and Messrs. Don C. Van Deusen and Wm. Arndt, rendered three songs with Mrs. Emma Washburn as organist.

The little church was filled with neighbors and friends who came to pay their last respects to an old settler of Washington County. The floral tributes were very beautiful, and several old neighbors acted as pall bearers. Burial was in the family lot in the Blair Cemetery.
