Elmer "Al" Bartlett was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Wichita, Kan., to John and Ada (Meyers) Bartlett. As a small child, he moved with his family to Bellevue where he grew up and received his education.

On Oct. 19, 1941, he married Lila Sorensen. The couple would have celebrated their 70th anniversary in three months.

Mr. Bartlett worked for Mother's Best Flour Mill in Omaha until he entered the United States Army in 1942. He served his country for nearly five years with a portion of that time in the Philippines.

Returning home after the war, he and Melvin Sorensen entered a partnership and formed the Arlington Electric and Plumbing Co. This partnership lasted until 1949 when Mr. Bartlett moved his family to California. There he found employment with the North American Aircraft Co. for five years.

He moved back to Arlington where he accepted a position with OPPD. He enjoyed a long tenure with the company, serving in various positions and locales for 33 years. Some of the locations included Ralston, Valley, and Arlington.

Mr. Bartlett devoted time to his church, Boy Scouts, VFW, Arlington Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Lila; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Emily Bartlett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jerry and Denise Bartlett of Omaha; daughter, Alberta Bartlett of Fremont; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister; four brothers; a grandson; and an infant daughter, Peggy.
