Carl J. Hindley Passes August 17

Carl Julius Hindley, son of Edwin and Fannie Hindley, was born in Fontanelle, Nebraska, March 1, 1868 and passed away August 17th, 1941, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

On February 29, 1892, he was united in marriage to Ida B. Carpenter of this county. To them 9 children were born, one dying in infancy. The children: Bernice Frazeur of La Cresenta, California; Helen Happel of Oakland, Nebraska; Grace Nagler of Chicago, Illinois; Stella Brock of Hyattsville, Maryland; Lilyan Chapman, Montrose, California; George D. Hindley, of Herman, Nebraska; W.L. HIndley of Blair, and Edwin C. of Omaha.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida B. Hindley, a niece, a nephew and fourteen grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends gained through a long life-time lived entirely in Washington County.

For nearly forty years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Hindley were engaged in farming. In 1929, however, they retired and moved to town. They engaged in business which they have operated successfully since that time.

Mr. Hindley was a good business man and was always considered strictly honest in his dealings with his fellowmen. Industrious at all times, he made his life a success and leaves only memories pleasant to his family.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at 3 o’clock p.m. with Rev. Brooks officiating and interment under the direction of J.E. Campbell was made in the Blair cemetery.
