Ivan E. Brown, 67, of Fremont, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born July 12, 1940, in Long Pine to Everett and Wilma (Lake) Brown. He was raised in that area, receiving his education in rural schools and in Bassett.

Following his schooling, he worked as a cowboy.

He married Janice Weander on Dec. 11, 1959, in Long Pine. They later came to Fremont, moved back to Long Pine, and then returned to Fremont in 1970. Here in Fremont, he was employed in road construction with Black Top Inc. and also drove a truck for them. He also had driven for Fremont Contract Carriers (FCC). In 1987, he became an independent truck driver, retiring in 2004.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice; three daughters, Kathy Brown and Vicki Long (and her significant other, John Knipple) all of Fremon, and Patti (and husband, Brian) Kucera of Cedar Bluffs; two sons, Kevin Brown of Lake Norden, S.D. and John Brown (and special friend) of Omaha; two sisters, Lillie (and husband, Harold) Duffield of Grapeland, Texas and Cindy (and husband, Kenny) Marston of Lumberton, Texas; two brothers, Everett (and wife, Dorothy) Brown of Great Bend, Kan., and Eldon (and wife, Susan) Brown of Pawnee Rock, Kan.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Lee Weander officiating. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends 6:30-8 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
