The funeral of Mrs. Martin H. Smith, of DeSoto, mother of the late Lee Smith, was held from her residence at DeSoto on Monday afternoon at 2:30. A large number of friends and old neighbors were in attendance. The service was in charge of Elder Carl Self, pastor of one of the Omaha Reorganized Latter Day Saints Churches, and the sermon was given in a very earnest and impressive manner. Mrs. Smith was 82 years old at the time of her death. Misses Bertha Hineline and Frances Seltz sang the hymns. Grandma Smith was an old Settler of DeSoto and widow of the late Martin Smith, who had an established reputation as a seed corn specialist. She leaves to mourn her death, an only daughter, Mrs. James Wild, and five grandchildren. She will be greatly missed in the community in which she has lived so many years.
