Mrs. Jay Vestal, a former resident of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Sketchley, 3826 North 22nd Street, Omaha, last Thursday, March 3rd, and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon. Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery, Omaha. Mrs. Vestal suffered a nervous breakdown some three years ago, from which she never fully recovered. She was born in Washington County, Virginia, April 20th, 1843, and was therefore, almost 78 years of age. She came to this county with her husband and son, Charles, in 1874 and lived on a farm near Kennard until November, 1918, when she went to Omaha to live with her daughter. She is survived by her husband; Charles B., of Irvington, George H., of Norfolk, Mrs. R. R. Sketchley, of Omaha and two granddaughters, Itras, and Bobbie Vestal.

WASHINGTON COUNTY PIONEER GONE

Mrs. Jay Vestal, 47 years a resident of Nebraska, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. R. Sketchly, 3826 North Twenty Second street, aged 78. Mrs. Vestal suffered a nervous breakdown three years ago from which she never fully recovered.

Mr. and Mrs. Vestal came to Nebraska from Virginia in 1874, and settled on a farm in Washington county where they resided until November, 1918 when they came to Omaha to live with their daughter.

Mrs. Vestal is survived by her husband, one daughter, Anna Sketchley; two sons, Charles B. of Irvington; George H. of Norfolk, Neb.; and two grandchildren, Itras and Bobby Vestal. Funeral services were held at the residence of the daughter Sunday afternoon, March 6, at 2. Interment in West Lawn cemetery.
