Mrs. Evans Passed Away-Died at Home Son, Emory, Near Onega, Kans., on Monday Evening-Funeral Tomorrow at 2:30

Mrs. S. E. Evans suffered a third paralytic stroke at about 11 o’clock while visiting at the home of her son, Emory, who lives down near Onega, Kansas, Monday morning and passed away at about 6:35 never regaining consciousness.

The body was brought by her son arriving on the evening train yesterday, and the funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church at 2:30 tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. The children will all be here for the funeral service but Charles who lives in Californian and Jennie of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sarah Elizabeth Buffington was born at Uhrichsville, Ohio, Sept. 2, 1846, so was just past 81 years of age. She grew to womanhood there and on Nov. 29th, 1866, she was united in marriage to Jacob M. Evans in Tuscarawas, County.

They made their home there until the spring of 1877 when they came to this county, settling on a farm west of Blair, where they lived until about 1885, when they moved to Colorado, remaining there about three years, coming to Blair to make their home in 1888, Mr. Evans passed away June 12th, 1918, at the age of 74.

Eight children were born to this union, one son, John dying in infancy and one daughter, Carrie, Mrs. John McCormick, died at the age of 23 on November 28, 1890. Those living are J. Emory, of Onega, Kansas; Ada, Mrs. Rass Short, of this city; Kate, Mrs. Wm. Mosing, of Soldier, Kansas; Frank of Omaha; Jennie, Mrs. John Crumrine, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Charles, of Victorville, California.

Mrs. Evans was the wife of a veteran of the Civil War and was naturally a member of the W.R.C. She was always an active worker in the Blair W.C.T.U. and a member of the Free Methodist Church. Her religion meant a great deal to her and it was evidenced in her life of unselfish service to her children to humanity and thus to her God.

Many Blair people and especially the older residents were deeply grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Sarah E. Evans who passed away last Monday at the home of her son, Emory of Onega, Kans.

Deceased, Sarah E. Buffington, was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio, Sept. 2, 1846 and was thus past eighty-one years of age at her death. She grew to womanhood in that state and on Nov. 29, 1866 was married to Jacob M. Evans.

They came west settling on a farm near the Brewster School house in 1877. Here they resided for a time but later moved to Colorado where they resided for three years and then returned to this county where they made their permanent home.

To Mr. and Mrs. Evans eight children, four boys and four girls were born, six of whom, three boys and three girls are still living: J. E. Evans, of Onega, Kan.; Mrs. Ras. Short, Blair; Mrs. Will Mosing, of Soldier, Kansas; B. F. Evans of Omaha; Mrs. John Crumrine of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and C. O. Evans of Victorville, Calif.

The body was brought to the old home on Tuesday and the funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 from the Methodist Church with Rev. Bader officiating and interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery beside the husband who passed on in 1918.

Mrs. Evans was a general favorite among her acquaintances. She was loved and respected for her virtues and was always a devout Christian woman. She was a member of the Methodist Church, of the W.C.T.U. and the Relief Corps and always ready to do her part. She was a real mother and wife and her friends join with the bereaved children in their sorrow over her death.

The W.C.T.U. plan to be present at the funeral in a body.
