Mrs. Hans Beckman Passes-Died on Farm Where She Had Lived Over 50 Years, Northwest of Blair-Funeral Held at 2 Today

Mrs. Hans Beckman was taken sick with pneumonia last Wednesday at her home on the old Beckman farm, some eight miles northwest of Blair, where she was living with her son, Max. Her condition became serious from the start owing to her age, and death resulted at 9 o’clock Monday morning.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church here at 2 o’clock this afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery by the side of her husband, whose death occurred on October 8th, 1914.

Amelia Voigt was born at Neumunster, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and was just one day over 78 years of age. She was married to Carl Bohs in Germany in 1868 and two children were born to them. Mrs. Henry Faber of Omaha and Andrew Bohs of this county.

After his death in 1880 she came to the country and the following year she was married to Hans Beckman, of Arlington. One son was born to them in 1888, Max with whom she was making her home. Besides these three children she leaves three brothers and one sister. There are also five grandchildren.

Mrs. Beckman was a real territorial pioneer of the county and had the remarkable record of having lived upon one farm for over fifty years. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

Pioneer Mother Gone

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church last week Wednesday, December 14, for Mrs. Hans Beckman whose death occurred on Monday, Dec. 12th at her home eight miles northwest of Blair, after a few days illness of pneumonia.

The services were conducted by Rev. C. G. Bader and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery beside her husband who died in 1914.

Amelia Voight was born at Neumunster, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany in 1849 and was seventy-eight years of age at her death. She is survived by her three children, Andrew Bohs, and Max Beckman of this county and Mrs. Henry Faber of Omaha. She leaves also three brothers, one sister and five grandchildren.

The deceased lived with her son, Max on the farm where she had spent many of her active years having lived there for over a half century. She was one of those brave pioneer women who helped in the settlement of this county and state and to whom the present generation owe debt of gratitude.
