Mrs. Marshall Wilcox Dies-Passed Away Last Wednesday Afternoon at the Farm House-Funeral Held Friday

Mrs. Marshall A. Wilcox reached the end of life’s road last Wednesday afternoon, following an acute illness of some six weeks, through she hadn’t been well for years, suffering from a headache since her youth that gradually became more acute as life advanced.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church, of which she had been a member since Easter, 1919, was at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. There was a large attendance at the service of neighbors and friends and the floral offerings were very profuse and beautiful. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Eva Melora Spaulding was born at Spring Valley, Minn, March 15, 1868 so was 59 years of age, 9 months and 6 days. Her family moved this county when she was but a child so she grew to womanhood here and on January 1st, 1887, she was united in marriage to Marshall A. Wilcox.

To this union six children were born, one dying in infancy.

The children are Mrs. Bessie French and Mrs. James K. Steele, both of Blair, Howard and Ray Wilcox, of Oldham, S. D., and Harley, of Blair. There are ten grandchildren besides a host of friends who extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and children.

A VICTIM OF ILLNESS

Mr. Marshall Wilcox succumbs to several years’ illness.

Mrs. Marshall A. Wilcox died at her home west of the city last Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several years’ duration. The deceased was born March 15, 1868 at Spring Valley, Minnesota, and in her childhood the family moved to Washington County, Nebraska.

She was married January 1, 1868 to Marshall Wilcox and to this union six children were born, one dying in infancy. With the exception of three years residence in this city, the family lived continuously on the farm west of the city. Although she had not been in the best of health for some time, her condition did not become serious until about six weeks ago since which the immediate relatives have been at her bedside most of the time.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her bereaved husband, two daughters: Mrs. Bessie French and Mrs. James S. Steele, both of this city; three sons, Howard and Ray both of Oldham, South Dakota and Harley of this city, besides grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. Carl Bader officiating, after which interment was made in Blair cemetery.
