#1-Published in the Enterprise Jan. 6, 1927

Frank Stanfield, a pioneer of this county, passed away at his home in Tekamah last Friday afternoon. Following a funeral service at 2 o'clock P.M. in Tekamah on last Sunday, the body was brought to Blair where interment was made beside his wife who passed on long years ago in 1900.

Deceased was born in 1849 at Evansville, Indiana and when but a babe the family moved to Kentucky where he grew to manhood. He with a brother, came to Blair in 1869, the year of the laying out of the townsite and he continued to make this home home until 1895 when the family moved to Craig. Here Mrs. Stanfield passed away. In 1906 the family moved to Tekamah where Mr. Stanfield followed his trade, blacksmithing until old age forced him to give it up.

At his death he was past seventy-seven years and with his demise another of the band of our early pioneers has gone to answer the last call. There are but few left to mark those old times of pioneering and in a short time all that is left of those early days will be but a matter of history. We cannot, however help but feel the greatest respect for those old time hero's who through their aggressiveness and perseverance made this state what it is.

Four children are left to mourn his death, three sons are one daughter; Earl and Randall and Mrs. Ethel Gregoire of Omaha and Hiland of Tekamah and a number of old friend both in Blair and Tekamah join in sympathy for them.
