Mrs. Hester E. (Helen) Samson

Mrs. Helen Samson, a resident of Blair since 1894, passed away at the home of her son, S. H. Pounds on Friday Oct. 21, 1927.

Deceased was born in Illinois, April 11, 1863 and was therefore past sixty-four years of age. When a child she moved to Iowa with her parents and later in 1883 to Nebraska.

She was first married to Samuel Pounds and to this union was born three children, J. L. and S. H. of this city, and Mrs. Grace Neilsberg of Tampa, Florida. Mr. Pounds passed away in December of 1887.

In 1894 she was married to W. P. Samson. At the time of the marriage she was living in Arlington but Mr. Samson being in business in Blair they moved to this city where she has since made her home. Mr. Samson passes away in 1919.

Mrs. Samson was a woman of sterling qualities, charitable and kind, a friend to everybody and her wide circle of acquaintances knew her to respect her. She was a member of Welcome Rebekah Lodge No. 27 of this city and in earlier years was active in the work of the lodge and also in the Baptist Church of which she was a consistent member to the end.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from her home with Rev. Arthur C. Smalley officiating and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Besides the three children, Jas. L., Samuel and Mrs. Grace Neilsberg of Tampa, Florida, all of whom were present at the funeral services, she also leaves a sister, Mrs. Geo. Morrison of Honey Creek, Iowa to mourn her death.
