Marilyn “Babe” (Korshoj) Jackson, 87 years, of Fremont passed away Monday, Nov. 27, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.

She was born May 31, 1930, in Herman to Chris and Esther (Madsen) Korshoj. Marilyn grew up in Herman and was a 1947 graduate of Herman High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Dana College in 1953. She married Leonard Jackson on December 27, 1953, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Marilyn was an elementary teacher in Tekamah for two years. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, Korshoj Lumber Co. at both locations in Herman and Fremont.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont. "Babe" liked playing bridge and card games with friends and family. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Known as the M&M Lady, she always kept a stash in her purse to hand out to children (and adults too)!

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leonard; son, Kim Jackson and Randy of Denver, Colo; daughter, Tami (Marc) Steadman of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Frank Korshoj of Herman; sister, Betty Megrue of Blair; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

"Babe" was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Raymond and Earl Korshoj.

Her Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Marty Tollefson will officiate. Closed casket visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the American Cancer Society.
