Coming to this country in 1862 and to this county in 1865 Mrs. Hansen went through the pioneer years of settlement. In those early days Indians camped by hundreds on their hunting trip near her father’s home on York Creek and she became acquainted with their manners and customs. Her first home in the county was a log house built by Peter Johnson, who owned land in the York Creek valley but later moved to the farm now occupied by the Will Linden family.

In 1969 she was married to Mr. John Hansen. The made Omaha for a time and then moved to a farm west of Orum. Here their family of eight children were reared, five boys and three girls, six of whom are still living, Charles, Wm. and Jesse, Mrs. Emma Toft, Mrs. Martin Rasmussen and Mrs. Wm. Baer.

After residing on the Orum farm for a number of years the family moved to Omaha and later in 1894 to Blair which has since been her home. Here the husband passed away in March 1912 and in her old age Mrs. Hansen has made her home with the daughter, Mrs. Wm. Baer where she passed away in her eighty-fourth year.

Mrs. Hansen was a woman well liked by those who knew her. She was of a deep Christian nature and her life was one of usefulness and those of her family who live after her will always remember her with reverence and love.

The funeral services will be held at the Danish Church in this city at on o’clock today (Thursday) with Rev. Nielsen officiating and later at the church at Orum where Rev Reinertsen will officiate and interment will be mead in the Orum Cemetery.
