Duane H. Chappelear, 84 years, of Arlington died Dec. 2 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. On Sept. 4, 1933, Duane was born to William and Mayme (Bremer) Chappelear in rural Fremont. He was raised on the farm and graduated from Arlington High School in 1952.

On June 19, 1955, Duane married Nila Ann French at the Methodist Church in Arlington. Three sons were born to this union, Douglas D., Mark L., and Tom W. He served in the U.S. Army from July, 1953 to June, 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Duane farmed north of Arlington, owned and operated Scheer Shooting Supply and later was a driver for Consolidated Freightways.

Duane was a member of the Arlington Community Church, American Legion Post 71 and the honor guard, Aeries Eagle #200 of Fremont, former Eagles Camping Club, and retired Arlington Fireman. He was a Master Mason with the Hiram Lodge #52, AF and AM of Arlington.

Duane is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nila Ann; sons, Douglas (Ellie) Chappelear of St. Augustine, Flo.. and Tom (Trinity) Chappelear of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Sharon Chappelear of Roswell, Geo.; sister, Catherine(James)Wyman of Sun City, Ariz.; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, Mark; brothers, William, Charles, and Roy.

The Funeral Service was Thursday, Dec. 7 at Arlington Community Church. Rev. David Paul will be officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at Reckmeyer–Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial will be at the Arlington City Cemetery with Military Honors.
