John C. Kegler, 62, of Ottawa, died on Monday morning, December 11, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held in Nebraska at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home and Crematory in Ottawa. John was born on August 31, 1955 in Omaha, NE the son of George and Molly (Robuck) Kegler. He was a graduate of Tekamah Herman High School. He attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Dana College. John married Catherine Bowers on December 12, 2016 in Ottawa. He was a truck driver and over more than 40 years, he and Cathy covered millions of miles together. Recently, he was employed as a truck driver at Airgas in Minooka. John was a good and kind man, who never hesitated to help a stranger. The world is a much emptier place without him. He is survived by his wife Cathy, a brother Thomas (Kim) Kegler, a sister Elizabeth McMurrin, and nephews Shane (Katie) Kegler, and Jessie and Cody Strausser, and beloved dogs, Gunny, a retired military explosives detection dog, and big goofy Mia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the family.
